Verdant Valor Sanctuary

Growing with Purpose

March has been a meaningful and productive month for Verdant Valor Sanctuary. As we continue building our organizational foundation, we are seeing steady progress across training, partnerships, design development, and operational planning. Each step forward reflects the dedication and collaboration of our board and team members, and it is encouraging to see the vision gradually take shape through these early efforts.

Professional Development & Strategic Partnerships

One important area of progress this month has been professional development and partnership building. Participation in horticultural therapy training has helped strengthen our evidence-based programming approach and reinforces our commitment to nature-based therapeutic practices.

We have also initiated collaboration with Michael Thomas and his team at Connect IDD, who have already proven to be an excellent resource for mentorship, networking opportunities, and guidance related to programming for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Their insight and willingness to share expertise have been a valuable asset as we continue shaping Verdant Valor Sanctuary’s future program model.

Branding, Design & Community Visibility

Significant work has also taken place around branding, design, and visibility. Branding and design improvements remain underway as we continue refining the visual identity of Verdant Valor Sanctuary.

Our social media presence is also expanding across LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook, helping build early awareness and community engagement. Special thanks to Kilo Watts Jr. for taking the lead on these efforts and helping establish our digital presence.

At the same time, Josh Rodriguez has been actively researching garden design concepts, site layout planning, and accessibility considerations. These early design efforts are focused on ensuring that the future environment is both therapeutic and fully inclusive for veterans and individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Program Development & Operational Planning

Program development and operational planning are also gaining momentum. James Blakeney and Melissa Bové have begun developing foundational materials that will guide the future structure of the organization.

This work includes drafting Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), developing preliminary “Day in the Life” program concepts, and outlining program design frameworks. These efforts will help ensure that Verdant Valor Sanctuary operates with clear processes, safety standards, and intentional programming as the organization grows.

Land Search & Development Planning

The search for the future home of Verdant Valor Sanctuary is still ongoing. Identifying land that aligns with our vision for nature-based therapy, accessibility, and long-term sustainability remains a key priority. As we continue exploring potential options, careful consideration is being given to location, acreage, environmental features, and development potential to ensure the space can support therapeutic programming, gardens, and vocational opportunities.

Team Milestone

We are also proud to celebrate an important personal milestone within our team. Congratulations to Andrew Febre on officially completing his bachelor’s degree. This accomplishment reflects his dedication and perseverance, and we are grateful to have his continued contributions as part of the Verdant Valor Sanctuary team.

Organizational Infrastructure

Verdant Valor Sanctuary continues to strengthen its internal infrastructure. Our Microsoft workspace has officially been granted nonprofit benefits, significantly improving our collaboration and document management capabilities.

In addition, we have secured access to several valuable nonprofit resources, including Canva and Goodstack, which will support both design and fundraising activities moving forward. Progress also continues toward finalizing our nonprofit banking account as we establish the financial systems needed to support responsible organizational growth.

Looking Ahead to April

April is shaping up to be an exciting and productive month for the organization. We will celebrate Kilo Watts Jr.’s birthday on April 11, and our next quarterly board meeting is scheduled for Sunday, April 19 at 9:00 PM Eastern.

Throughout the month, we will continue advancing efforts related to land planning, program structure, and fundraising readiness as we prepare for the next phase of development.

While we remain in the early stages of growth, March demonstrated what is possible when vision meets steady action. From strengthening partnerships to building internal systems and refining program concepts, each effort is helping move Verdant Valor Sanctuary closer to becoming a place where healing, growth, and connection can thrive.

Thank you all for your continued commitment to this mission and for helping bring this vision to life!

Together, we’re cultivating a future where growth—both personal and agricultural— is deeply rooted in purpose.
